D/A News: Effects of COVID-19, Production Updates, and New Site Features

Without delving too deeply into a topic you are all definitely hearing a lot about from everywhere else, I’d just like to say that I hope you all are staying safe and doing as well as can be expected in these scary and stressful times. Instead of talking about the obvious negative effects of the current pandemic, I’d like to share some of the positive effects that the “Stay At Home” has had for me, and by effect- some of our current projects.

First off, you may notice that we’ve had a top-to-bottom overhaul! Nearly every page on the site has been updated with improved functionality and added features. Including but not limited to:

  • FILMS page added. The page currently showcases our upcoming G4TV retrospective documentary, Attack of the Doc! with new links to the film’s website and Kickstarter/Patreon contributor feeds.

  • VIDEOS page has had a massive facelift! It now hosts brand-new feeds that curate our Livestreams, Latest Videos, Collaborations w/ Film Threat, and the new D/A Classics section - which includes several never-before-seen videos from Dual Animal’s early days!

  • Projects “In-Development” have gotten new splash pages, including Chuck & Mike, and Klutch. For exclusive access to the comic books and pitch bibles associated with said projects, sign up to become a Dual Animal Studios Member!

  • JOIN DUAL ANIMAL has finally been updated. Embarrassingly, the button in our footer has long since advertised a feature that we never activated… until now! By signing up, you can gain exclusive access to our production newsletter, and password-protected videos and comics. Think of it essentially as accessing content behind a paywall, but for free.

  • We’re also making a new weekly podcast called, QUARANTIME where we recommend a favorite movie, show, game, book, or internet oddity for listeners to ingest during the quarantine. Name is subject to change, but the questionable antics are here to stay. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you find podcasts!

  • MUSIC section added to showcase select works from our studio’s amazing resident composer, Austin Smith, as well as an exclusive new release from Noisenerve.

Enjoy episode 1 of our new podcast, #Quarantime below!

On the production front, as with the rest of the entertainment industry- the current state of the world has made things challenging for exactly what Attack of the Doc’s next steps will be. We have unfortunately had to push our production schedule up a bit, but as we adapt to the circumstance, we remain as invigorated as ever to bring fans the best possible version of this documentary. Here are some words from our director, Chris Gore;

Just as we began to interview people for Attack of the Doc, the world changed. This means that we'll be unable to meet our initial deadline of July for a first cut of the documentary. We'll continue to work on Attack of the Doc but our efforts will be on hold for the time being when it comes to doing interviews. The health and safety of everyone involved is our primary concern.

Having said that, here's a link to an amazing interview with AOTS producer Frank Meyer, (the password to listen on Vimeo is @0TD032805). We hope you enjoy this latest interview which features a very special guest who joined us along with Frank.

While things will take longer than we originally anticipated, we are committed to bringing you a documentary tribute that fans can be proud of.

In the meantime, we will be sure to provide the odd periodic progress report on Dual Animal. But for fans looking for regular updates, you can find our production feeds on Kickstarter and Patreon. We also plan to make more of these posts public in consideration for those who can no longer afford to remain Patrons. We have no interest in seeking any contributions during this global crisis.

Again, hope you all are staying safe and that some of our current endeavors can take your mind off of the darkness, if even for a moment.

Be well. Stay safe. Stay the fuck home.

~ Bobby
